yuyo sustainable manufacturing process

Social and environmental performance

To offer surfers an ecological alternative to traditional surfboards and allow them to reconcile with their playground, the ocean, we have totally rethought the way surfboards are made, using large format 3D printing and bio-composite materials.

In order to reduce the impact of our products on the environment as much as possible, we are working on several levers. The materials that make up our boards are bio-sourced or made of recycled plastic waste, recyclable and energy-efficient during extraction and manufacturing. This choice allows us to preserve the health of our employees by limiting their exposure to toxic, allergenic and carcinogenic products.

Local sourcing of raw materials and our ability to manufacture our boards close to the practice areas allows us to reduce transport-related greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible.

The additive manufacturing allows us to use only the strict quantity of material necessary for the manufacture of the boards and thus considerably reduce the production of waste.

We strive to recycle our boards at the end of their life and to recycle the materials that make them up. Finally, we have designed a modern and sustainable workshop, adapted to our innovative manufacturing process. Each space is designed to optimize working conditions : temperature and humidity control, ventilation and air intake, brightness. In addition to the traditional protective measures (gloves, goggles, masks, helmets), we have also replaced the acetone usually used to clean tools - a toxic and highly volatile solvent - with a more environmentally friendly substitute that is less dangerous for humans.
